The Moke Grimley Cup: Honouring a Football Enthusiast's Legacy for a Worthy Cause
This is a cup match thats held once a year in honour of Moke Grimley farther of Sam and Joe Grimley. This is more than just a match. It's a testament to moke and his love for the game. Moke would attend every game possible if it was possible! no bar would be complete with out moke and his pint of Guinness in hand 🍺
Moke Grimley was more than just a football fan; he was an integral part of the local football community. Known for his passion, dedication, and love for the sport, Moke's presence was felt by all who crossed paths with him. Following his passing, his sons, Sam and Joe and with help of there friends, took it upon themselves to honour their father's memory by organising the Moke Grimley Cup, an annual event that celebrates his life and his undying love for football.
This cup allows people who grew up playing football in their younger years to hit the pitch once more. It also allows people to catch up because we all know what life is like and seeing your friends when you are older is a pretty hard task. The cup allows people to reconnect and a chance to all get together and have one big gathering sharing stories of when they were younger to things there are currently doing.
Each year, the Moke Grimley Cup selects a different charity to support alongside the cup match. This year, the spotlight shines on Young Lives vs. Cancer, a noble organisation dedicated to improving the lives of young cancer patients and their families. By partnering with this charity, the event aims to raise funds and awareness, enabling Young Lives vs. Cancer to continue their crucial work. This became even more impactful as one of the players kids has recently has been struck with cancer so has made picking this charity a whole lot more meaningful ❤️
In total the match was able to raise around £1,000 which will help tremendously and just goes to show what a small group of people/friends and families can achieve when every one has the same goal in mind!
I had the pleasure to be apart of this cup game getting arial footage of the game (which doesn't do best for showing the standard but then again the average age was around 40👀) and also take some great action shots with my camera📸 you can see all the photos in my portfolio but below are by top 3!
all in all it was a great day and I'm excited for the next one!
